POLICY
STATEMENT #32
WEAPONS
ON CAMPUS
It
is a violation of State criminal law and University
policy to possess or carry any weapon on the University
campus. The only exceptions to this prohibition are
for law enforcement and military personnel carrying
out their official duties, and for ceremonial or educational
uses specifically authorized by the Chancellor.
The
definition of the term "weapon" as used in this policy
statement shall be identical to that in the corresponding
State law. The term includes not only all firearms,
but also powerful explosives and such devices as knives
or clubs intended for use in personal combat.
Violations
of these standards will be referred for criminal prosecution
and for University disciplinary action in the case of
faculty, staff, or students.

approved July 25, 1977; revised December 18, 1995.)
